Climates
There are different types of climates: desert, monsoon , equatorial, and savannah. They are not similar, but we can difference them by knowing the rates of isolation and precipitation.
🌵Desert: Deserts can be divided in two categories; hot deserts and cold deserts.
Hot deserts are located on the west side of continents between latitudes 5° and 30° north and south of the equator. In hot deserts, nights are cold but days are very hot. This is due to the fact that there is no sun and there is no humidity in the atmosphere. We can see that the average precipitation is between 250mm and 300mm.
The reason why these deserts are formed are different, but all of them have in common the wind. One reason can be that prevailing winds blow from the land, and so they are very dry, with no moisture. Another reason can be that prevailing winds cross mountain ranges generating a rain shadow area or that winds from the equator descend in the latitudes. Finally, another reason could be that the wind blown from the sea is cold with little or no moisture.
Cold deserts are on the poleward area between 60° north of the equator in Eurasia, North America (Alaska), Canada.
Cold deserts are very cold in winter and warm in summer for these latitudes. It has long winters and short summers and its precipitation is light, mostly in form of snow.
💧Monsoon: The monsoon is located in south east Asia and it has two seasons. The southwest which is the wet season and the northeast which is the dry season. This is produced because of the change of the prevailing winds.
In the southwest season, winds from the sea enter the continent. These winds are warn and full of moisture, so consequently an are of low pressure is formed.
In the northeast monsoon, the winds blow from the continent being dry and leaving very little rainfall.
🌺Equatorial: Equatorial climates are located 5° north and south of the Equator. This climate is hot and wet, with no seasonal change, meaning it is hot and wet all year long. Countries with this type of climate have a daily pattern which is that every day the same thing happens. Every day there is a short period in which there is a little storm. This happens because of the moisture in the atmosphere. The average rainfall is of 2000mm or 2500mm and the average temperature is of 25°.
🌴Tropical: Tropical Continental is located between 5° to 15° north and south. This particular climate has alternation between wet and dry seasons. The first season is not and wet, while the second its warm and dry. Temperature is of 31°
Very nice job, Abril! It´s very clear.
